Juan “Hollywood” Godoy
On February 15th 2018, at just eleven years old, the Lord sent Juan on his journey through the corn fields, and into baseball heaven. No one knows or understands WHY it was his time and the offered reason of “natural causes” is uncomprehendable. All we have is to try and find a small slice of comfort in knowing that he is our guardian angel watching over us, protecting us and guiding us in the right direction. Here’s a little about the kid that impacted us all and inspired the Hollywood Dream Project.
At the time of his sunset, Juan was a sixth grade honor roll student at Heritage Intermediate School where he participated in the Future Leaders Club. He was adored by teachers and respected by his peers. His funny, courageous, outgoing, friendly spirit captivated the hearts of many. Juan loved sports. His favorite teams were the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Lakers, and the San Francisco forty-niners. Juan played in the city of Fontana basketball league and was the starting third basemen and captain of his baseball team the IE Wolfpack. He had a limitless talent, that was noticed by anyone who watched him. Those who knew Juan can validate he was a unique, one of a kind type of kid. The way he demonstrated his love for his family and friends was admirable. He had a tremendous love for his parents and siblings Anabelle and Alaina. He affectionately loved his role in their lives, from goofy videos to karaoke serenades, to cheering each other on at the field. Everyone could see the unconditional love they have for one another. The most rememberable and prominent characteristic was his love of life and humanity, the ability to love unconditionally and see the best in people was unmatched by anyone else his age. Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only kids like Juan will leave footprints on your heart forever.
